As governments worldwide shift to clean energy production in order to reduce emissions, ecological experts in Kenya are opposing the construction of a coal-burning electricity generation facility in the coastal region of Lamu County, which is a UNESCO World heritage site.
Experts say the government project comes at a time when the rest of the world is changing to clean energy and it is feared the coal plant will have negative impacts on both the environment and the people who live in Lamu County.
