The north-western state of Sinaloa has long been known as the cradle of the drug trade In Mexico. For over half a century, drug lords have been thriving in a region marked by major inequalities, where working for criminal organisations is often more lucrative than trying to find legal employment. As their success story has unfolded, drug traffickers have influenced the local culture. Crime, money and glitz have become its most obvious attributes.
