During the war in Syria hundreds of wounded Syrians have fled to Israel for medical care. Israel's military and Israeli medical sources say that since 2013, more than two and a half thousand civilians and fighters have received free treatment in Israeli hospitals.
It is a unique humanitarian operation since both countries have officially been at war since the creation of Israel in 1948.
