Muslim women in India have launched a campaign to stop the use of a practice in which a man can divorce his wife by simply saying the word talaq – which means ‘I divorce you’ – three times.
Neighbouring Islamic countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh banned it long ago and now India’s Supreme court is preparing to rule on whether it’s unconstitutional. But some Muslim clerics in India say it shouldn’t be banned. Correspondent Murali Krishnan reports from Delhi.
